A quiet weekend, but very satisfying for Mike. Tracy went to visit him this afternoon and there he was on his own (no longer needing someone constantly with him during the day), sitting in bed, CD player on (under his control by a remote), and reading a book. It must feel great for Mike to get a sense of his own space back and some control over what he is doing. I must ask him that tomorrow.
The next major steps I presume will be on the action side. They have stayed away from that waiting for the trachy wound to heal. Apparently any major movement puts the stitches under too much pressure. Mike, meanwhile is eying his speedos!

Mike,
Its so hot here in Abu Dhabi today .The wind is blowing straight in from the Empty Quarter .Its can be likened to living in a hot hair dryer .Needless to say MY speedos are getting good use !!!Mum and Dad can verify that we do not exaggerate the heat here .
We had a golfing weekend at Ras Al Khaimah and stayed at the Majid Beach Resort .A bit like Fawlty Towers .We had the hot water cylinder burst which created a flood in our room ,the room keys had to be reprogrammed after each use and the place was full of Russians as its the Russian season here .So there was a lot of nyet and da ing on display plus the huge Russian physique men and women alike .THEY could use a few triathlons .
While the other mad dogs and NzERS played golf in 37 degrees I lazed indolently under the palm tree umbrella ,also wearing my cricket hat which gives maximum protection to my face and STILL got a dose of sunburn fom sand reflection .
Keep up the quiet life It seems to be doing you the world of good .

Hi Mike,
Sounds like you are still making great progress - keep it up!
We just wanted to tell you that we used your great christmas present and went rock climbing yesterday. It was a lot of fun - we both enjoyed dropping each other at great speeds while lowering each other down and generally had a great time! It was neat to get out and do something so different!
Thank you so much, it really was a great gift.
Hope you set some new PB's this week!
Lots of love, Zoe and Mark xx

Hey Mike
Sounds like you're still making excellent progress.
I've just had lunch down on the waterfront (by myself). Hopefully we'll be able to catch up for lunch again soon (which might involve a trip to Wellington).
If you'd been at lunch you would have probably asked "what's the goss?" No exciting goss to report I'm still avoiding endurance sports but Rory and I did try indoor skiing in the weekend which was quite tame but great fun.
All the best with the recovery
Dave
Mike,
Sounds like the great progress is continuing, wonderful to hear. Keep up the great work.
I had my first game of soccer on Saturday and for someone who doesn't like to exercise it was painful, (amusing to watch I was told) but Jack would say I should be fit being a Postie and all(Lee you'll have to fill Mike in). Bring on the next game........
Lee and Bryce it was great to catch up with you last week. Take care, you are an amazing family :)

Dear Mike and family
You should all be journalists you write so well. It is so encouraging to read regular diaries of yr progress Mike.
Mike, we have sold Raumati Rd and tomorrow we move into a Newmarket Apt! So, a huge change for us, some say a brave one. If we don't like it we will be out of there! And Omaha will provide all the things I know i will miss - viz. the fireplace, walking outside ( we have a reasonable balcony) and hanging the washing outside. Phil is on the tennis court as I write for one last game.
Jeremy and Rachel fly to LA tomorrow and J starts work in two weeks. Rachel is itching to get back to some decent work as well.
On with some more cleaning - 26 yrs of dust and grime uses a lot of Chemico!
With love and best wishes from us both. Liz
