Mike had a good day today. The dietician has said that he's gained enough weight that he doesn't need any more night feeds. Mike is very happy about it - the night feeding machine wasn't uncomfortable but it did make annoying beeping sounds all night.
He started some cognitive testing today. Apparently the whole test takes an hour, and Mike tires too easily to do it all at once so he only did the first part of it today. However, he seems to have done reasonably well so far. The therapist kept reminding Mike that it wasn't a pass/fail test, but rather was designed to give them information on where to focus the therapy. However, Mike was doing his focusing breathing between sets and clearly he saw it as pass/fail and fail wasn't going to be it.
We showed Mike the photos of various people visiting him at Auckland Hospital while he was in intensive care. He was very happy to see all the people who had come to see him and a bit sad that he can't remember the visits.
In other news, Mike had some more workouts on the parallel bars. So just keep yesterday's photo in your mind.

Hey Mike- you're doing so well! Think you are a star!
My father is big on CD stories for his car so will ask him for some recommendations for you.
I will have some photos coming your way shortly too.
Take care,
Lou :-)
Hi Mike.
Great to see you mastering those parallel bars. Dont let the girls try to put white tights on you though - its ok at the olympics I guess.
Everyone is asking after you up here. Plenty of my patients have been getting updates and I have directed them to the blog to get the full picture.
Jo Lawn (Ironman NZ champ) has been asking me constantly about you too, she has taken a lot of interest in your progress.
Cant wait to see you one day soon. Still thinking of coming down in June for the Marathon, but will keep you in the loop about that.
See you soon,
Rob and Kellee.
Hi Everyone
Quick response from Samoa - at 4kbytes/sec!!! Wonderful to see and read of the steady progress since I was last able to check the blog six days ago. Great team work!! I can't access that library site Tracy but if "Mao's Last Dancer" is listed Mike may enjoy it( a fairly recent book) - it is a wonderfully uplifting story of triumph over hardship and amazing family love. It is written very simply as english is not the author's first language.
Thinking of you all heaps and my Samoan friends who have been praying constantly for Mike since I was last here when he had the accident and who were so kind to me, were thrilled to see the news I downloaded (with photos) from the blog site. I am not letting them take TOO much credit for the progress!!
Have posted more cards Mike, but goodness know when they will arive!
Much love and hugs all around please
Mary
